The Great Sex Rescue: The Lies You’ve Been Taught and How to Recover What God Intended
Gregoire wrote this book after conducting the largest and most scientifically sound research project into Christian women’s experiences of sex and marriage to date. As a sociologist, I (James) want to highlight that twenty-two thousand women took part. What Gregoire found is not pretty. North American church folk have subtly bought into the sexual double standard: men are expected to enjoy sex, but women are not.
What if it's not your fault that sex is bad in your marriage? Generations of women have grown up with messages about sex that make them feel dirty, used or invisible, and men have been sold such a cheapened version of sex that they don't know what’s really possible. Gregoire’s team offers a truly Biblical view of restored human connection and mutually giving relationships that result in gratifying sexuality where mutuality, intimacy and passion prevail.
The Great Sex Rescue reveals what is happening in Christian bedrooms and exposes the problematic teachings that ruin sex for so many couples – and also reveals the good teachings that leave others breathless. In the #metoo and #churchtoo era, this book is a long overdue corrective to church culture. It has the possibility of freeing many couples from repressive and dissatisfying sex lives so that they can experience the kind of intimacy and wholeness God intended. We wish we would have had this book a lot earlier in our lives.
