The Power of Attachment: How to Create Deep and Lasting Intimate Relationships

A therapist I (James) profoundly respect called this the best book she had read on attachment.  I now agree. Heller has helped my own relationships become safer and more relaxed. That is no small feat. If you want to understand the difference between secure, avoidant, ambivalent and disorganized attachment, and how your childhood set you up neurologically for a specific style of relating that is now impacting all your adult relationships, this is the book for you.

Particularly insightful are Poole’s practical exercises throughout as she guides the reader on their own journey towards secure attaching, greater wholeness and new levels of intimacy. The book ends with a chapter on attachment styles and romantic relationships: finding them, improving them, and if needed, ending them. Deep down we are all designed for connection, awareness and love. This book opens us up to becoming more fully who we were meant to be.
