Emotional Intelligence: The #1 Ability for Leaders
Emotional Intelligence (EI) seems like an oxymoron, states Daniel Goleman, but actually EI is simply becoming intelligent about our emotions. Goleman is a thought leader in the EI field, and has written many books on the subject. I (James) find his way of describing things both expansive and easy to follow. To me, he is an exceptional guru who can help us sustain excellence both internally and externally.
In this short clip, Goleman presents self-awareness as a launching pad to expand our ability to make a positive difference. Goleman argues that EI is learnable, and in my opinion, if we want to become better at tending to our people, we must take his insights seriously.
Learning from Goleman is like sitting on the shoulders of a giant to see further down the road. You will find the insights far-reaching, touching areas of personal peace, family joy and community influence.
