The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry #1: Unhurrying with a Rule of Life
John Mark Comer gifts us with a well-researched and comprehensive look at time, and its effect on every relationship we have. He says that hurry is the great enemy of the western world. The number one problem we will face in living a whole life is time.
We humans do not tend to react well to this problem. Psychology Today describes our typical response as “hurry sickness,” with symptoms that include irritability, hypersensitivity, defensiveness, overworking, escapist behaviours, reactivity, and lack of interior depth. Worse still, hurry is incompatible with love, because it sabotages our capacity to give and receive it. Most of our worst moments occur when we feel rushed.
The only way we can live a compassionate life, then, is to slow down. This podcast reignited in me (Claire) a desire to make some changes in my own life.
